about me

Previously Head of Filmmaking at UWE and University of Gloucestershire, Freya was awarded a prestigious HEA National Teaching Fellowship in 2015. She studied BA (Hons) Fine Art Film at Central Saint Martins and an MFA in Fine Art Film at Syracuse University New York for which she was awarded a Fulbright Award and University Graduate Fellowship.

Freya makes films as boyandbear. Recent films include Services (BFI Network), Terminated: Teeth and Tinder (Random Acts for Channel 4), independent Documentary How Lucky? and dramas Not Waving (IShorts). She is currently in development on Cosmonaughts and Rhyl Sands with scriptwriter Katriel Costello.

Freya has worked as 1st AD on music videos, Editor on documentary projects for BBC4 and BBC2, and as a Post Production Supervisor for the BBC. She developed and taught film workshops for David Morrissey’s charity C.A.S.T. working in Tyre, Lebanon and townships in South Africa, and for several years took students out to work with Project Zulu in the Madadeni Township SA.
